Challenge

Creating of brand identity and name for new winery settled in manor house called Kaštieľ Pálffy was little challenge. The main aim was to connect modern shapes and elements with historical background of brand and noble family Pálffy itself.

One of the most important parts of our job was to design two different collections of wine labels. The result of identity "fermentation" is fully functional design.

Solution

Each good vinedresser can confirm saying that wine is made at vineyard not in the wine cellar. We had to take care of our "brainstorming harvest" for bringing the greatest ideas in and we did it just like that.

Seasoned result of our work is naming, brand identity, label design and web design.

Naming & Brand Voice

We had many candidates for name but the winner could be only one.

Name ViaJur has more than one meaning. The word Via comes from latin word which means a way. It reffers to the way through village were the winery is settled and second meaning refers to the new way of manor house Pálffy.

We got very clear and simple brief at the beginning- whole storytelling and brand's tone of voice has to keep historical and artistic values.

The most important hint was to not forget about history of family Pálffy.

Brave step what we did, was avoiding of brief cliché with family Palffy symbolism. Some people may know that symbol of this family is deer with wooden wheel but there is a but. Too many brands use this kind of symbol in their logotypes. For example Bratislava region has this type of logo. So we decided to choose basswood leaf. Family Palffy planted basswoods around all their habitations. Logotype consists of claim in latin: Pro rege et patria which means: For king and the country. It is historical motto of this family.

Label design

Design of wine labels matured to final version gradually

You can taste wine ViaJur in two different editions. Label design of classic wine edition is clear and elegant. The result is supertemporal. Art collection is a little bit more interesting. Years 2015/2016 have been devoted to distinguished painter, JanHall and you can find his peaces of art at Hotel Lomnica in High Tatras. For real fans of this kind of art this collection can become must have thing.
